FOUND AND DISCOVERED

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. April 2025

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

For more than a century, photography has been used as a documentary medium to detect the signs of human passage in our surroundings. The use of photographic, and subsequently even video, media allows the focus of attention to be placed on the single object or trace "discovered", from which information about human behavior can be captured .
One of the major changes that occurred during the early years of the twentieth century in the field of aesthetic phenomenology is, as a matter of fact, determined by the introduction of these new means of detection of reality, means that consent us to adopt a new way of grasping from reality the elements that we believe useful in the creation of a discourse.
Grasping and analyzing also means to extrapolate from a context the objects that interest us, found objects that become compositional elements in a new expression of the self.
Not only objects, but also places can reveal something that we consider significant for history and science, for our collective memory and our individual memory.
The call is open to photographic, video and visual digital works, that present themselves as the result of an expression of research, discovery, valorization, analysis or critique, revealing what we seize from human and natural environmental contexts.

A SCIENTIFIC APPROACH: Visual Documents and Creative Investigation Methods

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. June 2025

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

For centuries now, the close relationship between art and science has offered new prospects in exploring and understanding reality through a dialogue that combines the observation, analysis, reflection and expression of human experiences, a dialogue that promotes new creative and experimental approaches to the investigative processes.
In the era of technical reproducibility, the use of photographic or video media and new technologies has become a fundamental practice in the development of artistic practices: starting from the Dadaist experiences, throughout the pop art period all the way to the contemporary artistic phenomenology, we have important testimony that confirm an increasingly closer link between art, technology and science.
An important shift in the field of research has occurred with the advent of photography, as with it the approach to scientific , historical, geographical and anthropological documentation has changed, elaborate systematic methods of cataloging have been developed, and these contribute to the creation of new visual and informative aesthetics by which contemporary artists are influenced.
This call will bring together works that express an interest in observation, documentation, data collection and representation, and expression of aesthetic harmony that stimulates curiosity for science.

RITUALS

Call for Exhibition Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. July 2025

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

The photographic, digital and video works that will be selected for the collective exhibition scheduled for July 2025 and curated by LoosenArt will be focused on the theme of rites. Here the rite is understood as a recurrent practice, conducted with seriousness and commitment through a prescribed procedure that gives it validity.
Since the origins of rites among primitive and tribal peoples we have visual testimonies of their executions, and images sometimes become indispensable means to symbolize deities, spirits and other supernatural entities to make the forces they evoke concrete.
For centuries art has been strongly linked to ritual practices, and even today, through the documentary function of new media, we have evidence of performance and artistic practices related to them.
The call is open to works related to ritual practices that testify to its wider functions, from sacred to social ones, and from the intimistic and family-biographical to psychological and introspective ones.

CONTACTS AND CONNECTIONS

Call for Exhibition Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. January 2025

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

Bauman’s vision has allowed us to see the world we live in as an interconnected fabric, as the same technologies that we use daily determine our existence in the world, where space and time are less and less experienced as an obstacle, and where someone’s actions in a certain place can have immediate repercussions in another place.
Every discovery, invention or creation, reveals the innate human need to create contacts and establish connections with others, with self and with reality, in the form of objectives and interests. The works collected in the exhibition will express, as a whole, a shared feeling, a common participation, a feeling of participation and cohesion of intent.

BROKEN FORMS

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. November 2024

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

Fragments of matter or of an idea, broken and interrupted, or inter-ruptured, forms, disintegrated by human behavior or by nature, an action-effect that makes the nature of its composition and its existence even more concrete, manifesting its fragility and its ephemeral utilitarian and/or meaningful function.

Starting with the cubist aesthetics, the fragmentation of forms became the object of analysis of perception: such a fragmentation and reorganization of forms meant that a work no longer had to be seen as a window through which the image of the world is seen, rather it is a physical object on which a subjective response to the world is created.
The selected works will display form and the loss of its functional entity, with the constitution of new visual compositions and new meanings.

A further interpretation of this call sees the breaking of the form as the trace of a cause and effect that is testament to a violent act: an act that represents the urgent need for change.

Online Exhibition Publication August 2024

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Video Artists and Visual Designers are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

The theme of our online exhibition - and for which it sees the paper release of its catalog - refers to those indefinite places and contexts, fantastic places in which to get lost, places of escape from reality where freedom is experienced by rediscovering that sense of union and harmonious cohesion with the environment. Places that reveal the personal perception of the world and the authentic emotional experience, where the "self" is transported by osmosis into a timeless and "placeless" space.
The call is aimed to artists, photographers, video makers and visual digital designers, open to any style, genre and subject.

NATURE EXPOSED

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. September 2024

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

As theories of visual culture demonstrate, since ancient times the iconographic image has been a very important form of transmission and diffusion of human knowledge.
Starting from the late Victorian period, photography became a fundamental medium for scientific research, fully responding to the need to catalog and bear witness to inquiries into the natural world. Being photography considered a means that offers an objective vision of reality, when combined with data and texts, it is welcomed by the academic environment as an ideal means for the documentary transmission of scientific results.
In the fields of botany, anatomy, and in the study of behavior, micro/macroscopic observations, etc., contemporary technology offers more and more tools that help us understand the world, tools that broaden our perception and determine our awareness of it.
The call for the exhibition Nature Exposed intends to collect photographic, video and digital visual works that offer a glimpse into the natural world through the display of elements, flora, fauna, organic processes and behavioral dynamics.

MYTHOLOGY-INSPIRED

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. July 2024

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

From the classical to the contemporary period and all throughout the history of art, mythology has inspired artists in their representation of universal ethical and moral values. Such values have accompanied the development of civilizations since ancient times.
These are stories of heroes, mermaids, nymphs, monsters and creatures, and they have survived the changing of time and represented human fears and hopes, giving life to pages of books and legends handed down from father to son. These are the stories that give explanations to historical and natural events the causes of which or the extent of are unknown, mysteries of the undetermined and of the night, of darkness and of silence.

Thanks to mythological stories we can grasp profound meanings belonging to human nature, behavior, social life and psyche, clarifying meanings that help us to not forget who we are.

This call is addressed to photographers, video makers and visual designers who are inspired by mythological tales, their figures and characters, as well as to those who, with a documentary approach, offer an anthropological-cultural vision of what the traditions have passed down to us through habits and customs.

METAMORPHOSIS

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. June 2024

FREE ENTRY Photographers, visual designers and video artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

Metamorphosis as a process that manifests itself through mutation and change, as a process determined by the passage from one state to another, and finally as one that in the biological cycle coincides with the breath of nature. Metamorphosis is here a phenomenon that instills the perception of becoming; it is where the transience of the state of things contains the deepest meaning of existence.
Beginning with myths in Greek mythology, probably inspired by natural phenomena, literature has built narratives based on mutations and transformations of people, animals and things, presented as entities that change shape but not their identity. Stories, tales and artistic productions have followed one another over the centuries up to the present day, permeating the phenomenon of Metamorphosis with meanings involving the broadest spectrum, ranging from the philosophical to the technical-scientific, from the biological to the psychological and social fields.

Photographers, Video Makers and Digital Visual Designers are invited to submit works responding to the theme, without limit of genres, techniques and styles.

The call is open to works created using any technique, style and photographic/video genre.
Images that refer to the collective imagery and imagination, that recall personal experiences through memory and even works of conceptual value.

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. December 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers are invited to submit 1 up to 3 shots addressing the theme.

We have almost lost the habit of sending postcards to our family and friends when we are on holidays. Portraying a precise place in a specific time means giving a unique interpretation of what is shown in that picture. This call would like to reflect and select photographic works somehow working with the concept of the postcard (they can include postcards, can be archive-based research, remake postcards with a modern touch…).

All of this in a warm, personal and empathetic encounter, where author, subject and user are all called to participate.

FORGOTTEN PLACES

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Video, Digital Visual Design

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. October 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

The Forgotten Places call will collect photographic, video and visual design works that will constitute an exhibition/exploration excursus of abandoned, forgotten and rediscovered places, which will lead to a reflection on environmental, historical/social aspects and individual memory.
With the advent of photography, a new documentary approach intervenes in giving a testimony of human kind, through the direct recording of behaviors, but also through the traces they leave.
One of the most representative approaches in the photographic and video world is that of the phenomenon of Urbex - Urban Exploration - an activity of exploration of abandoned places, its objective being that of documenting the history of those who have lived there, through traces and objects which seem to be fixed and frozen in time.
A further focus of the exhibition is to shed light on the evocative charm of places where nature makes itself manifest by redeeming its spaces, asking questions and offering opportunities for reflections on our relationship with the environment, starting from the need for a more organic relationship with it.
Forgotten Places are also those personal places that pertain to each of our biographies, places that require a return to observe the images of our memories with new eyes, or to rekindle memories of an experience in order to better understand who we are.

MONOCHROMES

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. September 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

This call aims to collect monochrome photographic, graphic and video images containing tonal scales of gray or other chromatisms. Beginning with the black and white photographic images, the monochrome product is always intended as an abstraction of reality and as a representation of certain levels of human perception, of the visible and not, through which we gather information on the relationship of humankind with the world.
The Call "Monochromes" also intends to recall the aesthetic-artistic trends that arose from the 50s and 60s, in which color has a primary function in conveying or reinforcing messages and meanings, aimed at arousing emotional reactions on the part of the observer.

Deadline May 19th 2023 │Expired

THE FAMILY

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome, Italy. July 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

The collection of the works on display will expose the meaning of the term "Family", through stories and thoughts. Such a broad topic, "Family", grants the authors multiple approaches within the experiential and autobiographical sphere - which makes the diaristic component implicit - but also documentary and conceptual, as the result of a reflection on the meaning of the "Family" in the modern age.
"Family" is understood as a social nucleus made up of several individuals who live and share domestic environments, linked together by kinship and/or by an emotional relationship. The selected works will answer questions such as "What are families nowadays?", "How do traditions and cultures affect our way of living them, in them and with them?", "What testimonies do we have of new ways of understanding the family?" - a reference to immigrant individuals who create new social and sharing groups and the request by homosexual women and men who want the right to create their own family recognized.
History of Art offers a further starting point to reflect from, and it concerns a human behavior made manifest through the pictorial genre of the portrait: to remember oneself by becoming testimony and historical root for his descendants, a behavior that is followed through photography with the exposition in the frame or the family album.

MIMESIS

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. May 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

"Mimesis", Greek word for "imitation", designates a human and animal behavior aimed at the manifestation of an aesthetic cohesion - figurative and/or behavioral - with another subject or with the environment from which, through linguistic codes, we grasp a certain degree of adhesion and participation.
Imitation and Mimicry recall instinctive behaviors that act as defense and survival mechanisms, but also respond to the desire to establish a connection and approach each other between living beings and the environment. Man, art and technology make this objective manifest, through the production of visual representations, and even through productions that recall the biological processes of the natural world, and social and psychic dynamics.
Photographers, visual designers and video artists are called to present works corresponding to the concept of "Mimesis", in its representation, documentation and reflection.

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. April 2023

FREE ENTRY Photographers, Visual Designers and Video Artists are invited to submit 1 up to 3 works addressing the theme.

Since the days of ancient Greece, the contemplation of the night sky has stimulated thoughts on our existence, on our being in the world and on the unknown infinity outside of it.
The evolution of Western thinking lays the foundations of the relationship with the universe according to a philosophical and scientific vision, supported by the technological evolution of the past centuries, have provided answers and shaped the awareness of our being.
From Giotto to Van Gogh and even Anselm Kief in painting, from Henry Draper in the field of astrophotography to Thierry Cohen's starry skies, the history of images has expressed our relationship with the sky, and these traces through which we are able today to grasp the different interpretations it has been subject to over the centuries. A mysterious space, or according to the ancients a divine kingdom, that reminds us of our origins and our destiny.
On the historical - phenomenological level, an artistic and scientific approach, in which the two aspects are in dialogue with each other, is today increasingly prevalent in the field of research on different scientific-cultural fronts, through new technological-digital tools aimed at stimulating new ways of perceiving and experiencing reality.
For the upcoming Night Skies and Astro Imaging exhibition, curated by Loosenart, photographers, video makers and visual designers are called upon to present works corresponding to the theme.

Call for Exhibition - Accepted media: Photography, Digital Visual Design, Video

Group Exhibition in Rome city, Italy. January 2023

The current events that provoke mass migration, as shown by the war in Ukraine, or those involving millions of people driven by hunger or, as is also happening in more developed countries, driven by the search for working opportunities, well testify such a human behavior inherent in its own nature, a behavior that explicits the need and urgency of a universal recognition of a right which is still too often opposed today by a widespread cultural xenophobia.
Mobility, transition and structural collapse of barriers, these are perhaps some of the presuppositions that allow a contact, an exchange, an enrichment and an evolution of the human species.
Through this call, the field of visual arts proposes itself as a place in which testimony and manifestation of ideas, concepts and visions on the theme of migration and geo-political borders are given.
